Questions Families Ask

Straight answers, plainly given

Who needs long-term nursing home care?

People who need skilled nursing and help with daily routines on an ongoing basis, more than family can safely provide at home.

Does Medicare pay for long-term nursing home care?

Generally, no. Medicare covers short-term skilled nursing and rehab, but Medicare says it does not pay for long-term care when that is the only care you need. See Medicare’s long-term care page. Many families use Medicaid, private funds or long-term care insurance.

Does Riverside accept Medicaid for long-term care?

Yes. Riverside is certified for Oklahoma Medicaid (SoonerCare). Eligibility is decided by Oklahoma Human Services, not by the nursing home. The Oklahoma Health Care Authority explains how to apply, and our Business Office Manager can walk you through it.

Can someone move from rehab to long-term care?

Yes. Riverside provides both, so a resident who needs ongoing care after rehab does not have to move to another facility.
